Clay taken from mountains a day's walk from Urubambo, is crushed into a fine dust and recombined with water to form clay.
This clay is then skillfully transformed on a potters' wheel in beautiful vases, mugs and plates by Apu, a local artist.
With the help of his family, these pieces are painted and fired in a kiln. This image shows a freshly thrown vase, a dried mug with an outline to paint, a painted mug and pieces after first and second firings.
Here Peter and Apu admire the art.
