The Beginning

The Neckar River as viewed from the Heidelberg castle is famous, not only for its place in Heidelberg's history.

It is here on the banks of the Neckar that Gusti and her friend, Lizzi, were walking one day in 1947.  In the opposite direction came Roman with a friend of his.  The friends met and chatted briefly, introducing Roman and Gusti. When they parted ways, Roman told his friend, "I am going to marry her one day."

So here began a loving relationship that lasted almost 60 years.
