Cathedral of Salamanca

The Cathedral of Salamanca is in fact two churchs together.

The Old Cathedral was built in the 12 and 13th centuries and features this beautiful ceiling above the central transept.

The main alter of the New Cathedral features 53 paintings that tell stories from the bible, one for each week, including the leap year.  Because in the early years of the church people were illiterate, these painting helped to bring Sacred Scripture to the people.
This is the story of the road to Emmaus.
