The Cathedral in Strasbourg is a beautiful old building. Unfortunately the ground beneath is effected by the water table. Fears that the building could not support the weight of a second tower, prohibed it's building.
Thankfully the stained glass windows were removed and stored safely during times of war, so they were not damaged.
