16,000 people live on the Isle of Capri. Originally inhabited and developed by the Greeks and Italians as a means to enhance trade, this island is now a tourist mecca.
The two towns on the island, Capri (pop. 10,000) and Anacapri (pop. 6,000) are home to many ancient and modern delights. Because water was a highly prized commodity, many buildings in Anacapri,(the town located at a high elevation) were built with a domed roof to capture run off water from rain. This unique building feature aided agriculture in the area and helped to reinforce God's gift to his people, when the local Church, St. Sophia, stored its run-off water in a common cistern for all to use.
