Carmela's House

Carmela, a native of this area from the Quichua tribe graciously welcomed us to her home.
She showed us her open air kitchen, where the kitchen fire burns constantly.
The net above the fire is used to smoke fish to keep it for up to a week.
Carmela demonstrated how to crush yucca to prepare it for salad.
We were shown how to sharpen blow gun darts with the teeth of piraƱa.
We used these darts for blow gun target practice.
No worries, the target escaped unscathed. No supper for us tonight.
