Riding for Kids Again

For the third year in a row Peter is riding in the Tour 4 Kids, a fundraising ride in support of children living with cancer and beyond.
The morning started on an upbeat with a family testamonial. Five years ago, the day after the birth of their third daughter, Jude and Anne learned that their oldest daughter, Ava, had cancer. The next years would revolve around hospitals and treatments. Then the family learned about Camp Ooch and their focus began to change. The family continues to return to camp and Ava has even attended without her family. Each family member took a few minutes to thank riders and volunteers and explain how the camp has changed their lives.
As Peter left the start he joined another group of riders 'Team Axle'. This group of over twenty riders, ride in memory of Alex Pace, who was just shy of his 12th birthday when he lost his battle with cancer.
Friends and family sport special jerseys and wrist bands remembering Alex.
They say Alex did not like attention, so the team was named Team Axle, using letters from Alex's name.
Over 100 kilometres Peter pedalled through farm country to Camp Trillium, one of three camps supported by the ride.
This beautiful quiet site was a wonderful rest stop for riders and it is easy to see how it could be a place of memories and miracles for children and families.
