The San Matteo Cathedral in Salerno was built over century ago housing the relics of Evangelist St. Matthew and other saints and religious.
After Mass at this ancient Holy site, we ventured back onto the street to find a celebration that highlighted the lighting the new Christmas display.
Glistening balls of silver and gold dangled over the streets enchanting bystanders.
Other streets displayed lighted floral arrangements while a central square was decorated with glowing lanterns.
This nighttime light display was a wonderful way to end the first of many days sure to fill us with awe, wonder and delight.
