In the Morning Light
The 6:00 a.m. start under gray skies was our first chance to check out the place.
Our 'tent' city was set up on a baseball diamond. Tents lined the field, there was a tent where organizers cooked breakfast for riders and a station for last minute bike repairs and tune-ups.
Under the blue tarps to the left is bike storage for the night.
Slowly riders emerged to prepare for the day.

In Baddeck
If you travel with Brenda you know to expect rain. And rain, it did.
The day's travels were drenched. While the campgrounds were filled with activities and opportunities to meet other riders, by the time we finished setting up the tent in the rain we were ready to hit the sack.
Tomorrow promises better weather.

St. Andre
A tiny hamlet on the shores of the St. Lawrence, St. Andre, is our first stop on this adventure.
We are spending the night in a cabin next to the original hotel, the Manoir St Andre, built in 1879. This place is everything that I imagine when I think of Quebec. It is quiet, rustic and very Francais.
When we arrived after over 12 hours on the road we first took a walk to honour the St. Lawrence. Calm and relaxing the river offered refuge for these weary travelers. Before the sun disappeared behind the clouds, eliminating the chance of seeing a river sunset, we managed a few images of serenity.
An early morning awaits us as we plan to arrive in Baddeck tomorrow evening.

Tour for Kids
"Ride Somewhere Meaningful" is the theme of our adventure. The Tour for Kids is a fund raiser for children with cancer. This 300 kilometer bike tour will take Peter around the Cabot Trial on Cape Breton Island. Of course, I'll take pictures!
Hope you can join us for this adventure.

Au Revoir Paris
As we sit in the Orly Airport waiting to board our plane home, we can take a moment to reflect on fond memories of Paris.
We will miss the very efficient transportation system. The subways were on time and very fast though sometimes over crowded.
The museum of natural history was amazing.
Sitting on the banks of the river Seine, feeling like a local.
Eating at local cafes watching the crowds go by.
The food - baguettes, crepes, fromage, chocolat, croissant, cafe...c'est magnifique!
The art - old masters to impressionists to modern artists - to be in the same room with such great works was thrilling.
The history lesson around every corner. Occasions marked by monuments, statues, churches and cathedrals
Au revoir Paris!

Shining Light
The brilliant white Basilica of Sacre Cœur shines brightly in the midday sun and because of its bright white construction it remains as a beacon on foggy and rainy days for Parisians and tourists alike. Consecrated in 1919, this Basilica rests at the top of 225 stairs. The view of Paris is well worth the climb, but the opportunity to celebrate Sunday Mass here was divine.
