Three...Two...One

Billed as Race for the Sky, Top Thrill Dragster, shoots riders 420 feet vertically skywards and then sends them pummelling directly back to the earth.

Riders brace for the thrill, watch lights change from amber to green and in 4 seconds they reach speeds of 120 mph as they head towards the vertical incline. Travelling the length of the 2800' long ride takes a mere 17 seconds.

A big thrill in a small package.Add Image

Caught in the Act

Having walked for most of the day, Peter and I decided to take a break and tour the park on the Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad.

As life would have it, our girls, having just completed yet another thrill ride, looked that train to comment, "Look at all the lame people on that ride", only to see their parents among the riders.

The Force is With Them

The Millennium Force is a family favorite.

At 310 feet tall, it reaches speeds of over 90 mph while looping around the park for a two minute journey. You can see from their faces, there is no fear here. Click here to view a video of this ride.

Elizabeth and Ali were too short for these rides when our family first did the park in 2000. This year's trip has fulfilled a long held dream for them.

Ain't No Stopping Him

Peter had surgery in June and is currently using crutches to get around. This however, did not deter him from enjoying the rides at Ohio's Cedar Point Amusement park in Sandusky.

Seen here, in a neon green shirt with his aircast dangling, he is making the turn on the Raptor one of many thrill rides at the park.

Elizabeth is our newest driver. She took the wheel on our way to Ohio on the 401, travelling at speeds reaching 100 kph. Overcoming a little fear she helped to get us to our destination safely.

Totem

Cirque de Soleil is a family favorite. The acts of daring reaching beyond what may seem humanly possible, entertain young and old alike.

Today we saw Totem, a tale of the evolution of mankind. While other Cirque productions have featured feats that reach beyond fear, this
production focus on the strength and beauty of the human form. Gymnasts, trapeze artists, unicyclists, clowns and a juggler use music and humour and take advantage of the every changing backdrop to bring the story to life.

Totem is, unequivocally, my favorite Cirque production.

Inspired By Dance

On August 12, my daughters and I attended the Toronto production of Billy Elliot.

Telling the tale of a young boy, whose family has fallen on hard times, Billy Elliot uses music and dance to inspired everyone to follow their dreams.

As a parent, the best part of this show was sharing it with my girls.
